Days gone by in Lapland Yllas

The culture in Lapland is strong and the locals still live their life bound by their customs, traditions and cultures.  Hunters and fishermen started roaming the landscapes of Yllas as soon as the last ice age ended. The rivers and streams were teaming with good catches and the forests and open plains offered some great hunting to local hunters.

The winter separation has been celebrated for years and is when the Reindeer are rounded up and some of them are taken for slaughter, this was a big celebration with market stalls which traded Reindeer meat and other products such as liquor.  There is still the opportunity to experience this in Lapland now where you can enjoy Sami lasso throwing and Reindeer wrestling under the twilight of the polar night.

Cabins were being built years ago and were usually situated on the banks of the meadows to allow the families to be close enough to the fields where all of the family would work.  You can still take trips to some of the old renovated meadow cabins where you can look at the dates and initials carved on the trees by the farm workers all those years ago.

One of the ways the people of Lapland entertained themselves in days gone by was lighting a fire and telling stories or singing songs. There are lots of activities where you can do just that in Lapland. When the summer is drawing to a close and the nights are getting darker, visit one of the remotest parts of Lapland where you can cook your dinner on the fire and get the feel of what days gone by really felt like.

Music and singing was and still is a big part of Lapland’s culture and for years concerts and music festivals have been held to celebrate different times of year. One of the largest and most popular music festivals of winter is the Yllas Jazz blues,  held in late January.  This festival sees people coming from far and wide to celebrate the winter time and music.

Yllasjarvi is one of the southernmost villages in Yllas and is full of culture and history.  The first farm in Yllasjarvi was founded in 1771 and was situated around a lake rich with fish which maintained the community throughout the year. Agriculture started in the area in the 18th century and the first tourists arrived in the area in the 1930’s. Tourism rapidly grew as the years went by and helped maintain a lifestyle for the locals of Lapland.

You need to know how to prepare your home for sale in 5 days in order to get it on the market and sold quickly. Once you are done it will be the dream home any buyer is looking for. It’s not going to be easy. Every night you go to bed, you’ll think you will never be done. By Day 5 you will see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Day 1 – Store Away/Replace
If there is anything that you want to keep, store it away now. If a buyer doesn’t see it, they won’t want it. If you tell a buyer they can’t have an item, they will want it. Don’t let that foolish mistake blow your deal. Pack any of those items and replace if need be.

Day 2 – Tackle Your “Honey Do List”
If your spouse noticed it, you can be sure the buyer will notice anything that needs to be done
• Replace cracked flooring, counter tops or wall tiles
• Patch any holes in the walls
• Fix faucets that are leaking
• Fix drawers that jam and doors that don’t close

• Paint your walls neutral colors, especially if you have brightly colored walls. (Don’t give buyers any reason to remember your home as “the house with the purple bathrooms”)
• If light bulbs are burned out, replace them

Day 3 – Make the House Shine

• Spray down sidewalks and exterior of the house with a pressure washer
• Wipe down cobwebs
• Bleach dingy grout. Re-caulk tubs, showers and sinks
• Polish all chrome and mirrors
• Rid the fridge of old food and clean the oven

• Keep the floors shining
• Dust ceiling fan blades, light fixtures and furniture
• If rugs are worn, replace them
• Hang up fresh towels
• Musty smelling areas need to be cleaned and aired out

Day 4 – Scrutinize
• Walk in your front door. Look around and ask yourself; “Do I want to go inside? Does the house welcome me?”
• Imagine how your house will look to the buyer by standing in the doorway of every room
• Ask yourself “Will this room make an impression?”
• Move furniture around until how it is arranged makes sense.
• Use a level on all window coverings
• You are finished when it looks like nobody lives there

Day 5 – Is the Property Attractive from The Road?
If the buyers don’t like the outside of your home; you will never get them inside.
• Clear the sidewalks
• Trim the hedges. Mow the lawn.
• Paint the front door and any window trim if they are faded
• Plant flowers
• Your house number needs to be visible from the street

It has done neither, and neither will this extra cash, since the cars being scooped up by people seeking the $ 4,500 are buying existing inventory and not creating demand for manufacturing.

After having woefully calculated the first $ 1 billion’s longevity – it was designed to last until the end of November but was gone after four days – Congress has determined that it would be a good thing to extend the program for another eight days, apparently. And despite the glowing reviews derived from a simple Google search regarding the dealerships’ giddiness over the new throngs of buyers, this whole program will, in short time, be revealed as a glimmering rust bucket with a fresh thin coat of shiny spray paint. Here’s why.

In order for dealers to receive reimbursement from the government, they must show proof that the clunker has had its engine permanently disabled. This is done by a technician at the dealership donning a protective HAZMAT suit, draining the oil and pouring a sodium silicate solution into the crankcase. The engine is then revved to a high rpm and within seconds, the sodium silicate hardens into a glass-like substance. The engine seizes and the car is worthless.

Now the dealer has to call a salvage yard to remove the vehicle(s) for destruction, but salvage yards do not make money by simply crushing old cars. They make money by selling off the parts – especially the engines, which are the most valuable part – and whatever else they can strip from the car. When it becomes cost prohibitive for salvage yards to accept these clunkers, the dealers are going to have one huge headache.

Nonetheless, more people are rushing out to buy new cars when they were driving their old clunkers for a reason; they couldn’t afford a new one.
